EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA John Pape from El Cajon California, an independent, self-managed Christian songwriter who creates worship and praise music for seekers and believers in the church, announces the release of a new single On The Third Day”.

The official song release date is August 15, 2022 on various music sites that include Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon. The song I Will Call Out Your Name is a contemporary Christian praise and worship song written for church congregation worship services.

This is the story behind the song.

On the Third Day was written because I wanted to express in song one of the greatest events in the history of the world. The song starts out with the humility of Jesus leaving heaven. His gold was to bring a gift worth more than everything a person could imagine. The Bible speaks many time regarding the three day period between death and resurrection.

As the song progresses I wanted to paint a picture of the terrible way Jesus died. The chorus of the song however speak of hope. Jesus without sin became the perfect sacrifice to take away sin. The proof came on the third day where Jesus is alive. The bridge of the song is about the witnesses to the miracle.

The tomb where Jesus was place was empty. It was exactly as Jesus predicted. The hope is the song brings to remembrance of this amazing historical act and the hope every Christian has.

As a Christian Praise and Worship song it is based on several the bible scriptures. Here are a few references related to the song.

“He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.”

1 Corinthians 15:4

As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’

Matthew 27:65-66

After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.

Hosea 6:2

That the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

Luke 24:7

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

Matthew 16:21

This song is a pure DIY project with the recording and production be done in a home studio. Songwriter and Musician John Pape create the song as a solo artist.

On The Third Day – Song Story

The main reason I write worship songs like On The Third Day is to express through music the wonder and greatness of God. As I think about the song On The Third Day here are some thoughts that hopefully share the song’s story.

The most important event in the history of mankind is the miracle that happen nearly 2000 years ago in Jerusalem. There was a man who was also God incarnate named Jesus. He had a three year ministry that ended by the most heinous punishment ever devised by man. The method of death was the Roman practice of crucifixion on a wooded cross.

Jesus was put on the cross by the religious leaders of the day. At the time they refused to see who Jesus was. As a result of their ignorance, Jesus died on the cross then was buried in a tomb. Now for most any other human that would be the end of the story. However, Jesus was in no way ordinary. The miracle of resurrection occurred after three days in a sealed tomb.

The resurrection of Jesus is God’s gift to mankind to offer one final sin offering. Jesus became the sacrificial lamb to take away the sins of the world. You only need to believe this in faith to receive atonement and be set free from the punishment of sin. This is the good news that every Christian now has hope for heaven .

Song Lyrics

From all splendor and majesty
Jesus came from heaven to earth
He brought a gift greater than gold
worth much more than I could afford

On the third day
the Son did rise
On the third day
My hope shined bright
On the third day
My Lord is alive

Jesus hung upon Calvary's cross
Crucified to save mankind
He was reviled and spit upon
Paid full price for all of my sins

On the third day
the Son did rise
On the third day
My hope shined bright
On the third day
My Lord is alive

His disciples went to the grave
They neared the tomb where he was laid
Looking inside and seeing no one
For the risen Lord is alive

On the third day
the Son did rise
On the third day
My hope shined bright
On the third day
My Lord is alive

Cornerstone – Jesus is the Rock Song Story

The main reason I write worship songs like Cornerstone Jesus is the Rock is to be a blessing and resource for the Christian church. As I ponder about the song Cornerstone Jesus is the Rock here are some answers to questions that hopefully share the song’s story.

This song is inspired by scriptures found in the Bible. When a building is constructed one of the most important elements is the cornerstone. This is the first piece that is placed down. It is important because it become the primary reference for the entire building. If the cornerstone is placed incorrectly it will affect the integrity of the the building. The cornerstone is this song refers to Jesus.

Jesus is the chief cornerstone upon which the church is built. Unfortunately, for unbelievers the cornerstone becomes a rock or offence or a stumbling block. During the time when Jesus was on earth the religious leaders eyes where blinded and were unable to see Jesus for who he was. Jesus brought salvation to the world. But for the religious leader Jesus was offensive and a stumbling block and the adamantly rejected Him. This resulted in the the most heinous earthly punishment of crucifixion.

This song is about in individuals today and their relation and belief in Jesus. For the believer there is great comfort, for the non believer it is a warning.

Song Lyrics

[VERSE 1]

True to the Word this stone refused,
By the builders, was the Rock of Israel.
So, don’t pass by and ignore this rock
Or you will stumble trip and fall.

[CHORUS]

Cornerstone, Cornerstone
Jesus is the Rock
Cornerstone, Cornerstone
Upon this Rock I'll stand.

[VERSE 2]

Be not ashamed, never run away,
In your belief in the Rock of Israel.
So, don’t pass by and ignore this Rock
Or you will stumble, trip and fall.

[CHORUS]

Cornerstone, Cornerstone
Jesus is the Rock
Cornerstone, Cornerstone
Upon this Rock I'll stand.

[Bridge]

Build on this Rock
Be firm in your faith
and You will know the Lord.

[CHORUS]

Cornerstone, Cornerstone
Jesus is the Rock
Cornerstone, Cornerstone
Upon this Rock I'll stand.

Why I wrote Cornerstone – Jesus is the Rock?

This song was inspired while reading the bible. While reading the theme of the cornerstone caught my attention. There is a visual image of this special rock called the cornerstone. It this the most important part of the building. It is the very first stone that is laid on the the foundation. Everything about this stone determine how well a the building will be. It needs to be orientated perfectly. It must be the perfect size and shape. If it of off in any way it will affect the integrity of the building. This is a perfect image of Jesus. He is the cornerstone of our faith. But, the religious leaders where blind and found offence in the ministry of Jesus. To ignore or reject this rock has it consequences.

What inspired the song Cornerstone – Jesus is the Rock?

The song Cornerstone – Jesus is the Rock is inspired by a combination of several bible verses.  Here are ones that stand out in regards to the song itself

Scripture References

See, I lay in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, firmly placed

Isaiah 28:16

The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.

Psalm 118:22-23

“…by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands before you whole. He is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Acts 4:10-12

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone.

Ephesians 2:19–20

“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious,”.

1 Peter 2:4–6

What message would you like people to take from the song Cornerstone – Jesus is the Rock?

The thing I would like to see from this song is the awareness that Jesus is the Cornerstone. He is what our faith is built on. During the time Jesus walked on earth many could not see him for who he was. As a result Jesus became offensive and they rejected him. Thing are not so different today. Jesus to the lost soul find offence in him. They find not need for the free gift of salvation. Unfortunately they are are lost. I want the message of this song to bring awareness that faith is built on the Rock.

Praise and Honor – Song Story

The main reason I write worship songs like Praise and Honor is to be a blessing and resource for the Christian church. As I ponder about the song Praise and Honor here are some answers to questions that hopefully share the song’s story.

When a person come to Christ and becomes born again it is the beginning of a new journey. This journey is a life long pursuit with a specific destination. We will all face the afterlife once we leave this world. It is something that no person can avoid. The the believer in Christ our hope is heaven. Our destination is heaven and it is something many

Christian hope and yearn for. It is the work of God that satisfies that hope. In the meantime we need to express our praise, worship and adoration toward God. The song is also about the attributes of God. He is Almighty and He is Majestic for that we are to Praise and Honor him. Of course one of the benefits of heaven is the absence of pain, hurt and sorrow. This is removed and we will be comforted.

Song Lyrics

To dwell in Your presence LORD is my heart's one desire
Only You can satisfy this yearning deep inside
To be where a river flows from God's holy throne
My praise will rise to you as my soul starts to sing

Praise and Honor
Glory and Power
God Almighty reigns
Praise and Honor
Glory and Power
You are Majesty

To dwell in Your presence LORD is my heart's one desire
Only You can satisfy this yearning deep inside
To be where a river flows from God's holy throne
My praise will rise to you as my soul starts to sing

Praise and Honor
Glory and Power
God Almighty reigns
Praise and Honor
Glory and Power
You are Majesty

No more pain
No more tears
No more sorrow
Forever set free

Praise and Honor
Glory and Power
God Almighty reigns
Praise and Honor
Glory and Power
You are Majesty

You are Majesty
You are Majesty
You are Majesty

Why I wrote Praise and Honor?

Praise and Honor was written because there is a deep down yearning to be with God. The Psalmist David so eloquently expressed this “One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life” But what is that look like? When reading Revelation there is a vivid picture of what heaven must be like. Add to that what Jesus did to allow believer to enter heaven only deserve homage to his almighty majesty.

About This Song

When a person come to Christ and becomes born again it is the beginning of a new journey. This journey is a life long pursuit with a specific destination. We will all face the afterlife once we leave this world. It is something that no person can avoid. The the believer in Christ our hope is heaven. Our destination is heaven and it is something many Christian hope and yearn for.
